Day 109-116 July 29-August 7 Olympic National Park – Sol Duc Hot Springs & Pools
We decided to stay at Olympic National Park since it’s running 100+ degrees East of the Seattle area and it’s been in the low 80s here. We’ll spend the next several days at Sol Duc campground the falls are a short drive from the campground then about a mile walk to the Sol Duk Falls from here there are several trails that lead to a couple of remote lakes and camp sites.

Day 98-107 July 20-29 Northern Cascades, Washington State

Day 98-107 July 20-29 Northern Cascades Washington State
Spent the first three nights at Colonial campground that’s on Dialbo Lake the color of the lake is green due to the glacier rivers flowing in to the lake. Was only able to drive about an hour east due to the fires and roads being closed, Made a couple of trips east to Washington pass where you could start to see the haze in the air form the fires. Next headed to the northern part of the cascades to Heather Meadows this is a truly fantastic place very peaceful and breathtaking, the meadows have several lakes with mountains in the background at night the stars fill the skies.

Day 95-98 July 17-20 Clearwater National Forest Campground Darrington, Washington

Day 95-98 July 17-20 Clearwater National Forest Campground Darrington Washington
For the weekend I stayed at Clearwater National Forest campground that had a nice flowing river just a short walk from my campsite. The first couple of days were overcast and rainy but you could walk the forest trails without getting wet due to all of the trees covering the trails. After exploring the area I found a fantastic water fall on one of the fire roads near the campground.

Day 92-95 July 14-17 Seattle, Washington

Day 92-95 July 14-17 Seattle Washington
A short stay in Seattle as we stayed overnight near the airport before Julie flies home for a couple of weeks to visit family and friends. We have had a couple of items shipped home in Minnesota that she also packed in her luggage to bring back to Seattle on the return flight.  After dropping Julie off at the airport I found a local park that had a great view of the Seattle skyline and stayed around for sunset before me and the dogs traveling to the Northern Cascades while Julie was in Minnesota, although my plans were changed a little due to the forest fires in the area that closed some of the roads that I had planned on driving so instead of making it a loop I stayed on the west side of the Cascades.
